our wall of memory - Felix White

Felix White - an inspiration to many

By the summer of 2011 Matt and Colleen’s beautiful son Felix, aged 6, had been battling neuroblastoma for over 2 and a half years. Brave Felix was diagnosed with stage four neuroblastoma at the Royal Marsden hospital after saying he had a sore back which then progressed to a limp in his left leg.

Throughout the fight, Felix never lost his incredible spirit, his love of life, his smile. His life force, along with his identical twin brother Elliot and big sister Grace, inspired all his family to get the very most out of every day that we are given.

But all the many rounds of treatment and surgeries had taken its toll on his immune system and he just didn't have any more strength to fight it.  He sadly passed away on August 23rd 2011. His mum, dad, gorgeous sister and brother were at his bedside. His mum said “his Jedi powers are needed somewhere else in the Universe now”.

Felix,

May you continue to inspire us:

To enter each day with a generous heart.

To serve the call of courage and love

Until we see your beautiful face again

In that land where there is no more separation,

Where all tears will be wiped from our mind,

And where we will never lose you again.

                     John O’Donohue

Felix loved Star Wars, and Matt and Colleen said, “you will always be with us, our Jedi Knight forever, and all those who love you and are inspired by you will continue to write your story here on earth as you smile down on us from heaven.”

Felix had incredible care, initially at the Royal Marsden, The Royal Alex in Brighton, in Greifswald in Germany and finally at the Children’s hospital of Philadelphia where the family went to try and save Felix. The White’s have pledged to try and raise $1m in order that other children be given the lifeline that was given to Felix - that chance of life and that hope.

Hope is a good thing. Maybe the very best of things. Andy Defreyne

In this spirit, the Whites welcome any donations for the Neuroblastoma Alliance, large or small. Everything helps! If you want to hold your own fundraising event in memory of Felix, you can set up your own Justgiving page really easily by following this link and joining Felix’s team.

As Matt and Colleen said, “it is so important that we give other kids the chance, the hope that Felix got".
